Steve Davis (Player Manager)

Born 26 July 1965. Former England Youth international who took over as Head Coach at Nantwich during the 2004 close season. Arguably, Nantwich’s most successful ever Manager, guiding the Dabbers to win the FA Vase in 2005/06 and, last season, clinching promotion to the UniBond League after steering the club to their highest finish (3rd) in their 25 year membership of the North West Counties League. Born in Birmingham, Steve is a vastly experienced central defender who was on the books of Stoke City before joining Crewe Alexandra for whom he made 145 appearances. Steve gained further League experience with Burnley, Barnsley, York (on loan) and Oxford United before joining Northwich Victoria in August 2000, becoming Assistant Manager to Jimmy Quinn the following July. Steve was Vics’ Manager at the start of 2003/04 but, after departing the club, signed on for Nantwich as a player in November 2003, making his debut in the 5-1 home win over Trafford, 8/11/03. 2003/04  Appearances 19  Subs 2

Peter Hall (Assistant Manager)

Instrumental in turning around the club’s playing fortunes after returning to Nantwich in early 2005 as Assistant Manager.  ‘Hally’, was a prolific scorer in non-league football with Leek Town, Macclesfield Town and Newcastle Town as well as with Nantwich where he topped the scoring charts in 1989/90 with 25 goals. Now on the youth coaching staff at Port Vale

Rob Hackney (Goalkeeper)

Joined the Dabbers early in the 2005/06 season from Leek Town. Started as a junior with Port Vale before serving Stone Dominoes, Leek CSOB and Mossley. Moved on to Kidsgrove Athletic in March 2003 and then Newcastle Town. The Staffordshire born keeper rejoined Stone in September 2003. A great shot stopper who made a vital penalty save in the FA Vase Fifth Round victory over Buxton, going on to earn a well-deserved 2006 FA Vase Winner’s medal.

Lee Jones (Goalkeeper)

Born Pontypridd, 6 August 1970. The 6’3” stopper made his debut at Chorley in the UniBond Presidents Cup, 30/10/07. The experienced keeper weighs in at 14st 4lbs and has topped 250 League appearances. Joined Swansea City from AFC Porth in March 1994, making just 6 League appearances for the Swans before joining Bristol Rovers (76 apps) four years later having had loans spells at Crewe Alex and RCD Mallorca. Signed for Stockport County (72+3subs) in July 2000 for a £50,000 fee before joining Blackpool (81 apps) in August 2003, being named Player of the Season for 2005/06. Had an emergency 7-day loan spell at Bury (2 apps) in December 2006 before joining Darlington (9 apps) in January 2007 in a loan move that was made permanent.

(Full Back) Born Stoke, 16 Sept 1980. Joined Nantwich during the summer of 2005 from Stone Dominoes where the picked up the NWCFL Player of the Month Award for February 2005. The 5’11” defender was also on Port Vale’s books.

Andy Taylor (Full Back)

Strong tackling defender previously with Stone Dominoes. He joined the Dabbers early in the 2005/06 campaign, going on to earn a FA Vase Winners’ medal. Moved to Wolstanton United during the 2006 close season, helping them to the Staffs County League title before re-joining the Dabbers in September 2007.

Gyorgy Kiss (Utility) 

Born Nyíregyháza, Hungary, 22 May 1975. Signed in November 2006 after being released by Chesterfield. 32 year old ‘George’ has had a distinguished and successful career in Hungary playing for Ferencvaros and Budapesti Vasas in both the UEFA Cup and Champions League. He appeared for Hungarian First Division outfit Dunaferr in 2001/02 scoring 3 times in 34 starts and then joined Debreceni VSC in September 2003. Moved to Vasas before joining Chesterfield in August 2006. The 6’1” defender weighs in at 11st 11lb and was previously involved with the Hungarian National squad.

Impressive defender, one of five Stone Dominoes players who joined Nantwich during the 2005 close season, becoming a virtual ever-present in the Dabbers FA Vase winning season.

Mark Fitton (Defender)

Born Stoke-on-Trent, 22 February 1985.  Joined Nantwich in August 2006 from Kidsgrove Athletic, making his Dabbers debut at FC United, 19/8/06. Joined ‘Grove from Staffs County League outfit Goldenhill Wanderers.  A broken ankle keeps ‘Fitz’ out of the early months of the 2007/08 campaign.

Ryan Dicker (Defender)

Joined Nantwich in the close season after being released by Alsager Town where he endured an injury-hit campaign last season.  Previously on the books of UniBond League side Leek Town who he joined from Northwich Victoria in the 2005 close season.  Had a loan spell at Biddulph Victoria and Alsager Town in October 2005 before signing a permanent deal with the Bullets.

Paul Donnelly (Defender/Midfield)

Born Newcastle-under-Lyme, 16 Feb 1981, the 5’7”  11st defender was at Port Vale from the age of nine. Made his first team debut for Vale in the 1-1 home draw with Stockport County on 26 February 2000.  Released by Vale in 2002 after making 5 starts and 6 substitute appearances, Paul was with Stone Dominoes before being taken back on trial by Port Vale during the 2005 close season.  Captured by Nantwich at the start of the 2005/06 season, going on to earn a FA Vase Winners’ medal.

Adam Beasley (Midfield)

2005 close season capture from Newcastle Town. Then 26 year old started his career with Reading. The Staffordshire born midfielder moved on to Newcastle Town in 1999 making more than 50 appearances before signing for Winsford United. Joined older brother Scott at Congleton Town in the summer of 2002 before returning to the Lyme Valley Stadium in October 2003.

Glyn Blackhurst (Midfield)

Came up through the youth ranks at Stafford Rangers.  A hard working midfield dynamo who scored on his Nantwich debut at Alsager in November 2004.  Moved to Alsager during the 2005 close season, helping them to gain promotion to the UniBond League.  Re-joined the Dabbers during the close season.

Ashley Carter (Midfield)

Youngster who joined the Dabbers during the close season after being on the books at Port Vale.  Made his Nantwich UniBond debut as a substitute in the Dabbers’ inaugural match at the Weaver Stadium against Quorn.

Phil Parkinson

(Midfield) Club captain who re-joined Nantwich during the 2005 close season. Born in Cheshire, Phil started his career as a Junior with Crewe Alexandra and is an England Schools triallist. Originally joined the Dabbers after being released by ‘The Alex’. Signed for Newcastle Town in the summer of 2000. The hard-working midfielder then moved on to Alsager Town from where he returned to Nantwich.

Nick Linford (Midfield)

Joined the Dabbers during the close season after being on the books at Stafford Rangers.  A former Chester City youth player who has also seen service with Bury and Blackpool.  Left Bloomfield Road to join Conference North Kettering Town in September 2006 making a substitute appearance at Droylsden.  Released by The Poppies in November 2006, he scored a spectacular pre-season goal for Stafford against Premiership new-boys Derby County.

Danny Griggs (Forward)

Originally joined Nantwich from Crewe Alexandra’s youth set-up, playing for the Dabbers youth side before making his first team league debut as a second half substitute at Workington on 14 November 1998. Cheshire-born Danny moved on to Mossley during the 2001/02 season after making over 100 Nantwich appearances. ‘Griggsy’ has also had spells at Middlewich Athletic and Newcastle Town. Spent the 2002/03 with Northwich Victoria, making 5 Conference and 11 substitute appearances. Returned to Nantwich, as second top scorer in 2003/04 with 13 goals becoming club captain for 2004/05 season, aged 23. Called up to the England futsal squad for the trip to Poland in October 2006 but injury denied him an international cap. Closing in on 100 goals for the Dabbers from 300 appearances.

Pavol Suhaj (Forward)

Born Lipany, Slovakia, 14 April 1981.  The towering striker was a close season capture from League One neighbours Crewe Alexandra.  6’4” tall and weighing in at 12st 10lb, Pavol made his Alex debut on 29 August 2005 as a substitute in the home defeat to Sheffield United. He joined Crewe in July 2005 from AS Trencin having scored fifteen goals for his side in the 2005-06 season and previously enjoyed a spell with Greek club Patraikos Patras.  Released by Crewe in May 2007 after making 1 start and 7 substitute appearances, he netted for the Dabbers in his full debut against Port Vale in the club’s inaugural match at the Weaver Stadium.

Matt Blake (Forward)

Former trainee at Crewe Alexandra.  Made his debut at Ramsbottom in the opening game of the 2004/05 season having previously gained Mid-Cheshire League experience with Crewe FC.  Finished the 2004/05 campaign joint top scorer with 15 goals from just 20 starts and 6 substitute appearances.

Andy Kinsey (Forward)

Well proven goalscorer who joined Nantwich from Alsager Town, who he originally joined in July 2001.  Made his Dabbers debut against Salford City in November 2005, going on to become the club’s top scorer. Born in Stoke, ‘Kins’ previously served Milton United, Knypersley Victoria, Norton, Kidsgrove Athletic and Leek Town.  His two goals in the 2006 FA Vase Final victory earned him the Man of the Match award and he also gained the Non-League Paper’s 2006 FA Vase Player of the Year Award.  Top-scored again last season with his haul of 31 league goals being the best for a Nantwich marksman since Johnnie Walker netted 35 Cheshire League goals in 1975/76.

Nathan Southern (Forward)

Born Crewe, April 1991. 5’10”, 11st Robust forward with pace who has been with the Nantwich youth setup for the past 6 seasons. 16 year old Nathan has been on the bench a couple of games this season. He finally got his chance in the Cup game against Chorley when he came on as a 70th minute substitute, setting up Nick Linford for the winner in extra time.

 

 

 

 

Kevin Ward (Forward)

Born Yorkshire. The 30 year old striker has teamed up again with boss Steve Davis who he was with as a youngster at Barnsley. 'The Traveller' has enjoyed something of a football odyssey are leaving Oakwell, serving Cove Rangers before playing in Sweden with MP IFK, Var TP and BK IFK where his service was broken by a spell at Halifax Town. Was then on the books of Gainsborough Trinity, Goole Town, Harrogate Town, Lincoln United and Grantham Town. Had a second spell at Lincoln prior to joining Spalding United in December 2001. Moved on to Holbeach United before signing for Harrowby United in December 2003 and then Barwell in October 2004 and Kings Lynn in January 2005. Had a stint in Finland and a spell with Swaffham before joining Corby Town in October 2006, re-joining Grantham in February 2007. Signed for Stamford, joining Wisbech Town on loan in March 2007. Started the 2007/08 campaign with Deeping Rangers before returning to Spalding from where he joined Nantwich in December 2007, making his debut as a substitute in the 5-1 win at Carlton, 8/12/07

Dave Walker (Forward)

First came to prominence on the local non league scene with Stone Dominoes, Alsager Town and Norton United. Signed for Stafford Rangers and then Redditch United in August 2006 where he netted six goals in 6 Conference North starts and 20 substitute appearances in 2006/07. Left the UK for New Zealand where he featured for Canterbury United FC. On his return to this country, the 24 year old striker signed for Nantwich in March 2008, making his debut in the 1-0 home win over Sheffield, 15/3/08.

Omar Mahmood (Forward)

Born Egypt, 5 December 1991. The 16 year old joined Nantwich in February 2008, and has featured in his national U19 side. Was part of the Port Vale youth set-up. Due to his desire to follow his father (a surgeon at Leighton Hospital) into the medical profession, Omar reputedly refused the offer of a scholarship at the League One club. Made his debut as a substitute in the 4-1 home win over Spalding United, 1/3/08.

Craig Ellison (Goalkeeper)

On the books of Altrincham as a youngster before joining Crewe Alexandra’s Academy on 12 month non-contract terms in August 2006. Joined the Dabbers on loan from Witton Albion in March 2008, making his debut in the 4-1 home win over Spalding United, 1/3/08. Nick Farquharson (Forward) Born Coventry, 7 September 1988.
