NANTWICH TEAM from:

Nantwich Town’s record against high flying Ashton United remains intact following Tuesday’s impressive 2-0 victory over ‘’The Robins’. The ‘Dabbers’ are now unbeaten in all four meetings against Danny Johnson’s men to date. Back to back wins in the space of 48 hours has lifted the ‘Dabbers’ from mid table following Tuesday’s vastly improved performance that drew a standing ovation at full time. Looking ahead to the weekend and recent defensive signing Charlie Reeves returns to the squad following a head injury sustained during last weekends game against Durham City. Reeves made his debut in the match but lasted all but 20 minutes before a clash of heads left the 21 year old requiring six stitches. Meanwhile, midfielder Chris Flynn is rated 50-50. Flynn is recovering from a hamstring injury but was out doing light training on Tuesday night at the Weaver Stadium.

Nantwich made their one and only visit to ‘The Walks’ stadium 15 years ago losing 1-0 in an FA Vase 4th Round tie to the then Southern League (Midland Division) based club. Going into Saturday’s match just a single point separates the sides with both Kings Lynn and Nantwich scoring and conceding an equal amount of goals.

MATCH PREVIEW

NANTWICH from: Jones. Reeves. Tickle. Shaw. Tinson. Sutton. Jack. Blackhurst. McPherson. Carter. Rhead. Lennon. Whittaker. Gibson. Southern. Mahmoud. Chapman. Aiden Carter.

With just under a quarter of the premier division fixtures completed, bar foot of the table Durham City, the division has taken on a rather unpredictable look with almost any club capable of beating any other on the day. Meanwhile, Nantwich are once again back in the thick of it(5th) in the division having been in a similar position on three occasions since the start of the season only to plummet to the halfway mark and below before climbing once again. In terms of results against Tuesday’s visitors the ‘Dabbers’ may hold bragging rights with three victories to date over Danny Johnson’s ‘Robins’ but if they are to keep their record intact Nantwich are likely to have to battle for the full 90 minutes to prevent the in-form visitors from denting that record.

MATCH PREVIEW

NANTWICH TOWN from: Jones. Chapman. Sedgemore. Flynn. Tickle. Sutton. Tinson. Whittaker. Blackhurst. McPherson. Jack. Carter. Lennon. Rhead. Gibson. Aiden Carter. Gibson. Mahmoud.

This match was rearranged to avoid clashing with Saturday’s Crewe Alexandra v Aldershot Town League Two fixture. Meanwhile, ‘Dabbers’ regular goalkeeper Lee Jones is slowly recovering from the facial injury sustained during last weekend’s FA Cup defeat at Warrington Town but is expected to be named in the squad to face bottom club Durham City on Sunday. Substitute goalkeeper Ben Chapman took over for the injured Jones at Warrington before playing the full 90 minutes during Tuesday’s 1 – 0 defeat at Guiseley. However, despite Tuesday’s disappointing result Head Coach Peter Hall reports an improved performance and at times “showed more of the Nantwich Town we are used to”.

£2 off Voucher in this week's Chronicle

Nantwich Town are pleased to announce that supporters can gain reduced price admission to the home game against Ashton United on Tuesday 22nd September (kick off: 7.45pm) in conjunction with an offer in this week's Chronicle.

Look out for the voucher in the Chronicle offering £2 off admission prices for this UniBond Premier match. This means that an adult with a voucher would pay just £7 at the turnstiles whilst concessions (senior citizens or students with ID) with a voucher would pay just £4. A child with a voucher would be admitted for free.

The voucher will need to be presented at the turnstiles on the night to qualify for reduced priced admission and the offer is limited to one voucher per person. This is one of a series of measures the club is doing this season to promote matches.

The club is aware of the financial pressure on fans. With two home matches in quick succession, it is hoped that this offer with the Chronicle will be a help to regular supporters.

FA CUP FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND (116 ties)

Warrington Town v Nantwich Town

£3,000.00 to the winners

NANTWICH from: Jones. Chapman. Sedgemore. Flynn. Tinson. Sutton. Whittaker. Blackhurst. McPherson. Jack. Lennon. Ashley Carter. Tickle. Gibson. Southern. Mahmoud. Aiden Carter.

Nantwich had their best FA Cup run for many a year in 2008 during which they creditably progressed from the 1st to the 4th Qualifying Round stage of the world’s oldest cup competition but in the end were denied a 1st round proper appearance at the hands of Blue Square North Fleetwood Town despite ‘The Dabbers’ leading the tie on three occasions. Atrocious defending a minute from normal time cost Nantwich an almost certain replay, and a potential £12,500 in to the bargain.

Meanwhile, Nantwich return to Cantilever Park, the scene of ‘The Dabbers’ single goal victory in last seasons FA Trophy and Nantwich are under no illusions, Warrington (UniBond 1st Division North) will make it just as difficult for them as they did in that FA Trophy tie. Defender Richie Sutton completed his three match ban last weekend and was due to start in Tuesday’s match against Bradford Park Avenue before a power failure struck ahead of kick off delaying his return until this weekend’s FA Cup tie. In other news, defender Dave Tickle, who recently left ‘The Dabbers’ to join UniBond First Division South Kidsgrove Athletic, has returned to the Nantwich squad and will be available for selection this weekend whilst defender Chris Shaw will undergo a fitness test on his injured toe.
