News - JACK LINDOP -14/10/08

We are saddened to have to report that former Secretary Jack Lindop has passed away. Jack was a terrific servant to the club and for many years - decades even - he was Mr Nantwich Town Football Club.

Jack became club secretary in the late1950s and it was his determination and drive that kept the club going in hard times and saw it progress from the Mid-Cheshire League. Known to everyone as ‘Big Jack’, supporters will remember him as being a firm and fair man. He was a terrific organiser and was instrumental in guiding the club back into the old Cheshire League in 1968 – after an absence of 30 years. Jack’s most memorable match at the old Jackson Avenue ground was beating Hyde United to clinch the Cheshire League title in 1981 – an achievement that was testament to Jack’s hard work behind the scenes.

Working closely with then Chairman, the late Eddie Lockyer, and his Committee, Jack (who later took on the role of Chairman himself) developed the Jackson Avenue ground with a new grandstand, floodlights and social club - which Jack himself officially opened in 1989.

Sadly, Jack suffered a bad stroke in the early 90s which cruelly restricted his capabilities. His dedication to the club was recognised when we was made a Life Member. What Jack Lindop did for Nantwich Town Football Club will forever be remembered. The club sends sincerest condolences to his family.

Club News - New signing - Rodney Jack- Thusday 9th October 2008

NANTWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB has pleasure in announcing the signing of former Crewe Alexandra and Rushden & Diamonds forward Rodney Jack. The 34 year old St Kitts and Nevis born player arrived at The Weaver Stadium in late July before appearing for Nantwich in a pre season friendly against his former club Crewe Alexandra at Newcastle Town’s Lyme Valley Stadium. However, in his follow-up appearance against FC United of Manchester, Jack sustained an ankle injury which necessitated him being stretchered off the pitch.

Rodney returned to training a fortnight ago and has declared himself fit and available for selection. However, although eligible, he is not included in the Nantwich squad for this weekend’s FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round tie away to Whitley Bay.

Cluc News - Club Statement Media speculation regarding Steve Davis - Wednesday 8th October 2008

Steve Davis (Head Coach)

Over recent days there has been media speculation linking Steve Davis with Dean Glover who has been appointed manager of Port Vale Football Club. This link is an obvious one to make as Steve was linked to the role with Dean Glover prior to the appointment of Lee Sinnott last year.

We can assure you that Steve has NOT BEEN OFFERED a role at Port Vale football Club and if such an offer were to be made Steve’s decision would be conveyed in the first instance via this website.
