The club has carried out an internal investigation into the matter and attended a personal hearing this afternoon. As a result it was found that Josh Hancock was ineligible and although the Club had not tried to Mislead anybody by this administrative error, no fine or further action will be taken against Nantwich town.
Nantwich Town FC were disqualified from the competition and FC united were reinstated
The club would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all their Fans and supporters for this administrative oversight.
News - New Signing - Thursday 27th February 2008
Nantwich Town have added to their squad this week with the signing on Monday evening of Egyptian born striker Omar Mahmood. Born 5.12.91, the 16 year old has featured in his national U19 side and latterly has been at Port Vale. Due to his desire to follow his father (a surgeon at Leighton Hospital) into the medical profession, Omar reputedly refused the offer of a scholarship at the League One club. However, an initial approach through his father to Steve Davis eventually led to the youngster attending training sessions at The Weaver Stadium where he has made an instant impression upon the Nantwich head coach and his assistant, Peter Hall.

A Nick Farquharson hat-trick against strong promotion candidates Sheffield FC on Wednesday night at The Weaver Stadium provided ‘The Dabbers’ with only their second league victory in 2008 since the New Years day 6-0 hammering of Alsager Town. Their were plusses and minuses in the game for ‘The Dabbers’ who were heartened, first when Andy Kinsey declared himself fit before later in the match having to be assisted from the pitch following a heavy knock to his right ankle. But, the biggest plus occurred when on loan Crewe Alexandra striker Nick Farquharson completed a hat-trick in only his second outing for Nantwich. Nick had rather a quiet game last weekend but, after an encouraging word or two from our head coach and his assistant, the young man responded with a scintillating performance that can only enhance his reputation at Gresty Road (and The Weaver Stadium).
Meanwhile, Pavol Suhaj has been forced to return to Slovakia due to family illness and, following a red card last weekend, his second of the season, is unlikely to be playing regularly for a while. However, further plusses were added this week following the return to the squad of Andy Taylor after almost three and a half month’s absence through injury sustained in the UniBond Challenge Cup game at Curzon Ashton, whilst Mark Fitton, who has been absent since last July with a broken leg, is now back in regular training.
Peter Ward and his men are not only desperate for a win but, are very mindful of the fact ‘The Dabbers’ won by a convincing 4-1 margin at our place on Saturday 27th of October with goals from ‘Ash’ Carter in the 8th minute, followed by Andy Kinsey (58.90), topped off with a Danny Griggs 90th minute penalty. Alex Morris struck in the 40th minute for the Hollinwood Road side but, we will have to be on our metal come 3pm tomorrow because ‘Wardy’s’ lot are fired up and raring to go. Make sure you are big in numbers supporting ‘The Dabbers’over the border in North Staffordshire! See you there.

Match Preview - UniBond League First Division South - Saturday 16th February 2008
NANTWICH TOWN (6th) v Belper Town (8th)
Buoyed by Wednesday night’s victory in the Cheshire Senior Cup over holders Cammell Laird we can now look forward to playing our first league game since the 12th of January after we narrowly lost away to Goole from a solitary Chris Tate goal. Meantime, despite a backlog of league matches of late, we have managed to record back to back victories over our fiercely competitive Merseyside rivals which has propelled us into the semi finals of the UniBond League Presidents Cup, and the final of the Cheshire Senior Cup in which ‘The Dabbers’ face Blue Square Premier club Altrincham at a venue / date to be announced. This will be the 8th occasion on which Nantwich have reached the final of the Cheshire Senior Cup. We first appeared in the competition as far back as the 1889 / 1890 season and were finalists in 1897/1898, 1903/1904, 1913/1914, 1929/1930 and have won the Cheshire Senior Cup twice, first in 1932/1933 whilst on our last appearance, in 1975 / 1976, we defeated Runcorn at the Alexandra Stadium.
Wednesday night’s victory also carried an added bonus in that it allowed (at long last) the completion of ‘Pavs’ 3 match suspension, which has dragged on for over 6 weeks. Postponements have left our popular Slovakian clicking his heels until his suspension was complete but, the boy is chomping at the bit to return to action as quickly as possible. In addition to ‘Pavs’ unfortunate delay, ineligibility for the Cheshire Senior Cup has also meant the postponement of introducing on loan Crewe Alexandra striker Nick Farquharson into our line up. Both players are included in this weekend’s squad to face Belper Town in which ‘The Dabbers’ are equal on points with our Derbyshire visitors but, we have the advantage of 4 games in hand. Meanwhile, to those of you who traveled to support the ‘Dabbers’ at the ‘Lairds’ on Wednesday night, a great big thank you from Steve, Pete and the lads, plus the rest of us who make up ‘The Dabbers’ family. Well done gang!

Pitch Update - 15th February 2008
The contractors were unable to get their heavy sand slitting machinery onto the pitch surface this week (surface was not firm enough even after a week without rain). They hope to be able to do so next Monday.
There will be a pitch inspection tomorrow morning, the club is reasonably confident that tomorrow’s game will proceed.
After tomorrow’s game a decision will be made based on how well the surface has survived and the FC United of Manchester game will either go ahead at “The Weaver Stadium" or be switched to Witton Albion.

If the pitch surface is dry enough by Thursday of next week a process known as "Sand Slitting" will be applied to the pitch in an attempt to improve the surface drainage. This is not guaranteed to work but is the next process available to the club as we endeavour to improve the playing surface.
