News Release - Andy Bott - 11th December 2007
Striker Andy Bott has officially been released from his contract. Andy scored 30 goals for Nantwich Town during season 2006-2007, a feat that without doubt went a considerable way in helping the club secure UniBond League status this season. Unfortunately, due to extended family responsibilities plus increasing work commitments, Andy has been unable to devote the time necessary to enable him to be considered for a place in the current Nantwich squad. Meantime, he has recently completed a loan period at Kidsgrove Athletic Football Club and, with less travelling time involved, an agreement has been reached that will enable Andy to continue playing football at the same level. The club wish to place on public record their most grateful thanks’ to Andy for the enormous contribution that he made during his time at Nantwich Town and wish him and his family, every success in the future.
Nantwich Town head coach Steve Davis says of Andy: “ The club is fully supportive of Andy, who in turn has paid tribute to the football club for the help he has received whilst being with us. He acknowledges the contribution we have made in helping him to improve his game and we wish him and his family the very best for the future”.

News Release - Matt Freeman - 11th December 2007
NANTWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB take pleasure in announcing the transfer of their youth team midfielder Matt Freeman to Crewe Alexandra Football Club. Matt, 16 years of age, has been a prominent youth team player for Nantwich Town during the last three seasons and his development has not gone unnoticed by several professional clubs. However, a recent enquiry from Crewe Alexandra led to the player being invited to a trial with the League One club and, following a successful period, has been offered terms that have proven to be acceptable to all parties. The agreement provides for a nominal fee to be paid to Nantwich Town Football Club, with an additional five figure fee to be paid on the occasion that the player makes five first team appearances. Additionally, a 10% sell on clause has been inserted into the agreement.

The agreement demonstrates further the long standing and healthy relationship between the two clubs, a relationship that has witnessed players moving in both directions over a period of several years. It has long been a standing policy of Nantwich Town Football Club to assist, not only in the development of their young players but, in helping those who demonstrate potential in securing a possible future in the professional game.
Nantwich Town Football Club wish to place on record their appreciation of the sincere and professional manner in which Crewe Alexandra Football Club have conducted themselves during the negotiations surrounding the transfer of Matt Freeman. All too often, reports of professional football clubs luring young players away from semi-professional clubs, without either an official approach or providing financial compensation, are all too common. Crewe Alexandra Football Club are to be admired for holding to the principle that an agreed compensation package should be offered at all times and the situation involving Matt Freeman enhances that belief.
