News - Latest Squad News From The Weaver Stadium - updated Saturday 27th June 2009
The club can announce that defender Richard Smith and striker Andy Kinsey have officially left to join Vodkat North West Counties Premier Division club Congleton Town. Richard and Andy played a major part in the rise of Nantwich Town from the 1st Division of the North West Counties League to the UniBond 1st Division South including the first season following initial promotion which concluded with promotion to the Premier Division of the UniBond League and victory over Altrincham in the Cheshire Senior Cup. But their involvement was not confined to those achievements – the highlight without doubt being members of ‘The Dabbers’ winning FA Vase team in 2006 and who can possibly forget Andy Kinsey having to be assisted (in agony) from the pitch with a damaged shoulder after celebrating his goal in front of a packed main stand at Birmingham City’s St.Andrews Stadium! Steve Davis, Peter Hall and Clive Jackson, along with all Nantwich officials, wish to convey their sincere thanks for the time they both spent with the club and to know they will always be welcome at The Weaver Stadium.
Meanwhile, ‘Dabbers’ long serving captain and central midfielder Phil Parkinson has declared an ambition to test himself at a higher level of football and is currently training with Blue Square North club Northwich Victoria whilst defender Charlie O’Loughlin has elected to join Ilkeston Town. Charlie is currently studying at Nottingham University and with the Manor Ground Stadium situated closer to his current base the amount of travelling time whilst he completes his studies will be considerably reduced. The club wishes to thank Charlie for his contribution whilst at The Weaver Stadium and wish him and his family the very best for the future.

News - NANTWICH TOWN HEAD COACH JOINS CREWE ALEXANDRA - Wednesday 17th June 2009 5:00pm

Nantwich Town Football Club wish to announce that their highly respected head coach, Steve Davis, has been appointed to the vacant assistant manager’s position at Crewe Alexandra. Following a meeting on Saturday 13th of June with Crewe Alexandra manager Gudjon Thordarsson, Davis accepted the terms on offer and as a result brings to an end a 6 year term at the UniBond Football League Premier Division club.
Steve Davis joined Nantwich Town, initially as a player in November 2003 following a short spell as manager of Conference club Northwich Victoria. Following the departure of manager Nigel Gleghorn to Newcastle Town Steve Davis was appointed head coach during the 2004 close season before going on to become the club’s most successful manager to date; during which he guided Nantwich Town to FA Vase victory in 2006 followed by promotion the following season (2007) to the UniBond League when finishing 3rd (the club’s highest ever position) after 25 years membership of the North West Counties League. Meanwhile, off the pitch, Nantwich were in the throes of completing their 10 year long ambition of moving out of their Jackson Avenue home and into a modern purpose built stadium (The Weaver Stadium). However, despite the disruption of moving to a new stadium it had no effect on the club’s ambition to progress further and after just one season in the UniBond League First Division South the former Burnley / Barnsley and Crewe Alexandra defender not only guided Nantwich Town to a second promotion, but also landed the Cheshire Senior Cup for the third time in the club’s history in the same season.
Steve is an ambitious person and along the way the club has been very supportive of his efforts to break into the management side of the professional game. He will be a loss to Nantwich Town Football Club, however, the club is of the belief that Steve’s move to Crewe Alexandra will have the benefit of further enhancing an already long term healthy relationship between the club’s. Steve Davis departs with the club’s most grateful and sincere thanks’ for all that he has brought to Nantwich Town Football Club during his time at the club and wish him and his family, the very best for the future. Steve will commence duties with his new club on Monday 22nd of June.
Meanwhile, during the interim period, Assistant Head Coach Peter Hall, assisted by Director of Football Clive Jackson, will take charge of team affairs. Enquiries for the vacant position have already been received from a number of qualified candidates and will be considered in due course.
News - New Club 125th Anniversary Badge - Monday 8th June 2009
To celebrate the club's 125th anniversary, Nantwich Town FC is pleased to unveil a new club badge. The colourful badge has been designed to have a modern feel whilst reflecting the club's heritage.
The badge will be incorporated on a new home kit set to be introduced for the coming 2009/10 season. To further celebrate the club's 125 years, a special away kit will also be unveiled based on the scarlet and white stripes that the club wore back in 1884.
The club is proud of its long history and it is hoped that the badge and new kits will be prove to be popular with supporters. It's a tribute to everyone who has been involved with the club over the years that Nantwich Town Football Club has survived and prospored over 125 years and there are further plans in the pipeline to celebrate the occasion.
The new club badge is set to replace the existing emblem which has been in use since the early 1990s. It depicts the traditional red and gold shield of the town of Nantwich supported by a pair of griffins. The shield is used by many organisations connected with the town and, indeed, was used by the football club from the 1940s through to the 1970s. The griffins, which represented Nantwich on the Borough Council coat of arms, originate from the emblem of Baron Cholmondeley of Nantwich who held the lands of Nantwich in a bygone era.

Appearances and Scorers 2008 - 2009
Darren Tinson

Central defender Darren Tinson made the most starts
for the Dabbers during the 2008/09 campaign. The
39 year old pulled on his Nantwich shirt 54 times,
missing just two games in the UniBond Premier and a
UniBond League Cup tie. Michael Lennon appeared 56
times but 4 of them were as a sub.
Michael Lennon
The only game in which the UniBond Premier leading
marksman didn't feature was the FA Trophy tie at
Rugby - where he was an unused substitute. Ashley
Carter, Lee Jones and Dave Walker also all figured in
more than 50 games for the Dabbers during the season.

News - CLUB NEWS - 9th May 2009
DABBERS BUILDING FOR NEW SEASON
Despite the recent play-off final heartbreak, the club is already making preparations for the 2009/10 season. Head Coach Steve Davis is busy preparing for the new campaign as Nantwich gear up for another promotion challenge in the UniBond Premier. “Obviously we were all very disappointed to miss out on promotion at the final hurdle,” said chairman Clive Jackson. “Steve has ambitions in the game and we certainly wouldn’t stand in his way if someone from a higher league came in for him. However, both he and Pete Hall are fully focused on making preparations for the coming season.” Davis has been busy planning a schedule of pre-season friendlies.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Lee Jones and central defender Darren Tinson have already pledged their futures to the Dabbers and Davis is confident that the bulk of his current squad – and a few new additions – will be reporting back at The Weaver Stadium when pre-season training begins.
